new apartment!
i moved today : D
i’m not in a ghetto part of gumi. the heat will always work and in all parts of the apartment. hot water won’t take 15 minutes to warm up. my laundry machine is inside. it doesn’t smell like the combination of a rotting dead body and kimchi. i don’t live across from my boss. i never have to ride with my boss who constantly texts and drives, reads the newspaper and drives, pumps the breaks every 10 seconds and drives, is probably hungover or still drunk and drives. there’s actual security with separate lock codes for the building and the apartment. an elevator with a call button inside of the apartment. a normal sized oven. a huge tv, dvd player and surround sound. when i need help fixing something or just living normal korean life like taking out the trash or ordering delivery food, i can ask my roommate who speaks awesome english and korean. my roommate shares my love for delivery fried chicken so even better : D
yes, these things are quite luxurious for me believe it or not.
trade downs? no microwave and i sleep on the floor. but i never cook at home (and i have a normal oven which wayyy overcompensates for that) and i’m used to sleeping on the ground now.
great job. great friends. great students. the last part to making my everyday life in korea perfect was a normal apartment. and now i have it. these last 7 months are going to be wonderfullllll : )
